Exercises for a flat tummy

My opinion on getting a flat tummy is to work on it all the time. Try finding exercises that include the core like pilates, yoga, dancing, running, circuit training, or swimming. By doing these things you are getting a full body workout, which is the best thing to do! If you really want to isolate your abs, YouTube some ab videos before you go to bed and do strictly that, just don’t only isolate your abs.

Eat clean, train hard, and you will see results!

Zumba… Dance Your Way To Your Best Body

Ok guys, I just got back from my first Zumba class at my local gym and let me tell you…. ITS AWESOME!

I am so used to doing things like running, cross training, yoga, and pilates, but Zumba was so fun! It was like having a huge dance party and breaking a sweat. All my worries went away and the only thing I was thinking about was how my body was moving with the music.

For those of you who don’t know what Zumba is, here is a simple explanation: Zumba is, more or less, ancient african dances mixed with some more modern dance moves. Your teacher is really the one who controls how modern it is. Personally, I liked the salsa type music, it was awesome!

The best part of it was that I didn’t even notice I was working out, I was just having fun which is the way that it is really supposed to be. If any of yo out there are getting sick of running, swimming, or just doing the same thing every day, I really encourage you to go and try a Zumba class at your gym, they will most likely have one. And, if you nervous to go by yourself, invite a big group of friends to go with you, bonding time plus getting a nice bod time!

Let me know how you like the class by commenting, or tweeting me at SGoldstein 33. Also don’t forget to keep watching my YouTube channel, YogaCrossTeens!

Fast Effective Workouts

Some days there just isn’t enough time to spend an hour or so working out. Instead of feeling bad and completely skipping out on a work out, here are some tips, DVDs, and things your an do to get a fast and effective workout!

Rip out workouts from fitness magazines

In fitness magazines, there are usually sections that have rip out workouts… instead of turning the page, rip them out! they are great to have around when you need a fast workout, and you can take them with you when you travel so you will never have an excuse not to be active.

Buy workout DVDs

Buying workout DVDs is a very good investment. Personally, I love: Insanity, Mari Winsor, Jillian Micheals, and Barre method DVDs. You can put them in instead of watching a movie, and get a great workout! DVDs are easy to travel with as well, and they tend to make you work out harder because there is someone there telling you what to do and to push yourself.

Sprint for 20 minutes

Hop on the treadmill or a running path, and run your heart out for 20 minutes! Running harder for a short amount of time is just as good as running less hard for a longer period. You will feel better about yourself afterwards, which makes for a much better day.

Do something active with your friends

Instead of lounging at the pool all day, do something active with your friends like going for a bike ride, surfing, rock climbing, hiking, anything that you all enjoy!

Always remember you can find something to do everyday to keep up with your bikini body. Don’t worry, exercise and be happy!

Over Exercising…. Don’t Do it!

Yes, working out is the most important part of staying fit, healthy, and looking good. However, working out to much, meaning doing 2 to 3 workouts (full workouts a day) may be just as bad for your body as not exercising at all!

When you completely overwork your body, it ca actually go into fat storage mode, and instead of losing weight you will gain it! Not to mention that it puts tons of unneeded stress on your body and you can really hurt yourself.

Many people do this to their bodies because they become obsessed with working out in an attempt to lose weight, trust me I have been there. Because they aren’t losing weight it causes phycological problems, and the outcomes are usually never good.

To avoid becoming one of those people, or to step out of that mind set, you need to find BALANCE.

Balance is the oct important part in any healthy lifestyle. Never exercising is not good, but only exercising isn’t good either! There needs to be a balance between the two. Here are some tips:

  • Workout 1-2 hours a day, no more.
  • Treat yourself once a week, on a day far away from the day you weigh yourself.
  • Come up with a workout schedule and stick to it.
  • Take a rest day at least once a week where you aren’t working out as hard as you usually do.

Those are the things that have helped me find balance, in both my body and my mind. I am happier, and fitter than ever! I hope they will help you reach that as well!

Lately, I have been wanting to focus on sculpting longer and leaner muscles. I do yoga a lot, but it just wasn’t making as big of a difference as I wanted. So, I started researching what exercises help do that best. Pilates kept showing up so I started looking on youtube for the best, and free, pilates videos:

POP Pilates is absolutely amazing! It is free, challenging, and has videos focusing on different areas of the body. It has already started to change my body,  and I highly recommend you use it mixed with some cardio of your choice.
