The TV Workout

I’ve been watching a lot of TV lately, for my acting study actually. And, I’ve never really been a TV person, I have always been a movie hound, but never really TV. So having to watch it almost everyday has been a real big challenge for me. Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, Lost, Ive been watching all of them. 

So, for me, while I am watching these shows I NEED to do something active so that I don’t feel guilty and unproductive. There are several ways that I have been being active: 

One is walking/running slowly on the treadmill while I watch these shows, I place my computer on my treadmill and watch them from netflix.

Another way is doing mat exercises, pushups, sit ups, lunges, anything I can do without equipment that tones, and slightly gets my heart rate up.

It helps keep me sane, and, its an easy way to “kill two birds with one stone”. I get a workout in, and get my acting homework/study out of the way. Seems silly right? Poor me I have to watch TV as homework, but when you are studying body language and facial expressions, its not exactly a walk in the park.

You may not need to watch TV as homework, but a lot of us watch TV and movies anyway. But, you can still do some form of exercise while you are doing tv, here is an example of a circuit you can do:

  1. 100 cruches
  2. 50 lunges each leg
  3. 100 squats
  4. 100 jumping jacks
  5. 25 pushups
  6. Repeat

Or you can just stretch!!! Any way you can move your body is better than just sitting on the sofa.

BEST HEALTHY COOKIES EVER

Okay so this weekend I tried out some delicious cookie, pancake, scone, and cake recipes, all clean, all healthy. Some of them didn’t turn out very well, they tasted good but fell completely apart, but this one cookie recipe was sooooooooooooooooo good! My family and friends ate 3 dozen of them all together. Now that was split up between quit a few people.

This recipe makes moist, delicious, healthy, low cal, chocolate cookies! And the recipe is……….

  • Mix 2 cups quick oats
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 2 tablespoons flax seeds
  • 1 cup carob ships
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut
  • 3 tablespoons peanut butter

All in a big bowl. Place in cookie portions on cookie sheet, bake on 350 for about 20 min. Eat, enjoy, be healthy!

 

These cookies are sooooooo good I can’t even tell you. My mouth is watering right now, and the way these things smell, ahhhhhh you’ll never want to leave the house.

Plus, you can have these cookies for breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, and deserts! And you who doesn’t want cookies for every meal? Plus, you can eat these things with absolutely no guilt at all. And, if you don’t want the chocolate, you can take them out and they are just as good!

Eat up!

Thinking Of Summer and Chocolate Almonds

I know that summer seems a million years away, but in all actuality it is right around the corner. And of course summer is the time for sun, swimming, and swimsuits. That can be really scary for some people, especially because a lot of us right now are hiding ourselves under the comfort of our big lumpy winter sweaters. 

Well, those won’t really be an option when the sun comes back out, not to mention that feeling good and confident with ourselves is the best feeling in the world.

So, it is time to start thinking of summer, and the goals that you want to accomplish by that time. Whether its losing weight, toning up, or just generally feeling comfortable with yourself. Set any goal that you want and write the date that you want to achieve it on a Calendar. Then you have something that you can really work towards.

I have an assignment for you as well: Move around every day for at least an hour. Dance in your room, go for a walk, ride your bike to the mall, anything thats going to get you moving. It will jumpstart your goals and make you feel A LOT better about yourself.

Now for the finale of the blog… A Recipe for Chocolate Almonds!

Chocolate almonds are loaded with calcium and magnesium, which are great for energy, fat burning, and PMS symptoms! Plus they are loaded with the Vitamin E, good for your hair and nail growth and shine. Plus the chocolate, who doesn’t love chocolate? Chocolate, in moderation, is actually really good for you. Especially dark chocolate and raw cocoa, and this recipe contains both!

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup almonds
  2. 1/4 cup raw cocoa
  3. 3 tablespoons Stevia
  4. 1/4 cup melted dark chocolate

Procedure:

  1. Melt dark chocolate on stovetop (in pan of course)
  2. Dip almonds in dark chocolate, place on plate in fridge and allow doc oil.
  3. Place almonds in bag with stevia and cocoa and shake
  4. Take on the go!

It so so so sooooo yummy!

A Bit O’ Summa in the Winta

Well, I am officially going through the winter slump my friends. It is cold, it is dark, and well, did I mention that it is cold? As you probably know by now, I am a complete summer beach warm weather person, so the cold just doesn’t jive with my personality you know? I mean clothes…. close toed shoes (although I do love my purple vans) soooo not what I love. 

But, on a positive note, I have found a way for me to have “A Bit O’ Summa in the Winta” by making my own fresh flavored water drinks! Oh my goodness they are so yummy, are packed with good and essential vitamins and minerals, and, they look really pretty in a clear water bottle. And who doesn’t want to look stylish at work, school, or the gym?

There are so many different and delicious combinations you can do with homemade flavored waters. Fruity, minty, grassy, sour, rich, zesty,….. the list goes on and on and ON! Personally, my favorite flavors are the fruity and the minty herbal kinds, they are so refreshing and tend to look even prettier than the others.

Today I had my absolute favorite… The Berry Bash!

Ahhh it was so yummy! And so simple, heres what is in it:

  • Water
  • Ice
  • 1/2 cup frozen berries

Yep, throw it in a cup and you have summer with you all day! 

If you want to try your own at home, all you really have to do is find some yummy fruits, some good herbs like mint, lavender, and rosemary, put it in water, let it steep and guzzle it up!

There is this thing in the world that will destroy your health, beauty, and most likely cause some major uncomforted in the belly zone. This thing that I am speaking of is….. School Lunches.

Fried food, burgers, fries, ketchup, salt, fat, sugar, sugar, SUGAR! None of that is healthy in any way shape or form. Now, those things aren’t bad to have very once in a very long while, but having them on your lunch menu every single day is not a good thing. 

In general school lunches are not healthy, I mean a pizza is considered a vegetable there, and we all know that it isn’t. Sometimes there will be salads or wraps, which are definitely a better choice if you do need to eat school lunches. On that note, if you do eat school lunches here are some better options:

  1. Salads, without dressings, with a fruit cup and a water
  2. Tortilla wraps with a side salad
  3. Pizza with a side salad, no dressing
  4. Bread boat with salad, peel part of the cheese off

It is better if  you can bring your own lunches though, because then you know exactly what you are eating, and you can control exactly how much your bring, etc. Lunch is one of my favorite meals, there are some many delicious and healthy options that you can do! Here are some of my favorites:

Turkey Sandwhich with Grapes and Almonds

Get some thing wheat bread, 100 calorie packs, and place a little bit of mustard on it. Then place 2 slices of turkey on it, bring along some grapes and almonds and you have a great lunch!

Grilled Chicken Salad

Mix 3 oz of grilled chicken, 1 cup romaine lettuce, 1 cup cherry tomatoes, and a few slices of avocado. Drizzle with balsamic dressing!

Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese 

Use your favorite tomato soup recipe, and serve with 2 slices whole wheat bread with melted mozzarella!

Amazing Acting News and The 30 Day Challenge

Wow guys! So many great things are going on in my life right now (and they are over balancing the bad and stressful things which is always good)! I hope that your new year is starting off amazing, as it should because 2013 is going to be YOUR YEAR. You are going to achieve all your goals and dreams, and… your life is going to attract your NEW WORD that you put out in to the universe. (Click here to read post about how to choose your NEW YEAR WORD)

As I told you in my previous post the word that I chose to focus on this year is ADVENTURE. And let me tell you, it is already coming my way. Particularly in my acting career world, hence the title Amazing Acting News.

Well, let me tell you what’s going on!

I got invited to do an intensive with an established acting coach down in Denver for 3 weeks… and then off to L.A. for me baby! Yes! I am so very excited to have this opportunity and can’t wait to keep you guys updated on everything. And hopefully I will be able to post some videos of my doing a few skits so that you can see my mad skills, well my mad skills in progress. It is such a creative outlet for me, I get so excited that I can’t even sleep sometimes as crazy as that sounds.

Which brings me to our next order of business…. energy!

It can be so hard to keep our energy up when we are going to school, sports, and maintaining our social life with our friends. The whole shebang can be very draining, which is why I am here to give you a tip on how to turbo blast your energy first thing in the morning, afternoon, or at night before you go out. And the secret is………

Green Smoothies!

Now, please don’t yell at your computer and shut my blog! Yes it is a green colored smoothie, but I can also guarantee you that it will be one of the most delicious smoothies you have ever tasted, and nutritious. Here is the recipe for your major energy blasting smoothie:

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  2. 1 banana
  3. 1 chopped apple
  4. 1 scoop tango VegaPowder
  5. 1 cup kale
  6. 1/4 avacado
  7. 1 cup spinach

Procedure

Personally I like to chop up all the ingredients as fine as I can and then blend them altogether at once. However, you can blend the veggies and almond milk first and it makes the end result a little bit more creamy.

#SUP Man…. I Have A New Passion

Hey guys! To start off, for those of you who don’t know what #SUP is it is…… STAND UP PADDLE BOARD! Yes, you are standing up on a board and paddling your little booty (well technically arms but that didn’t sound as good) off! I tried for the first time this summer and absolutely LOVED it! And I got to do it again while I was on vacation in Mexico for Christmas last week.

It was one of those things that I felt like a complete natural at, it came easy, it was fun, and I completely and fully fell head over heels in love with it. I love when that happens! You think that you are going to try something that really, in the grand scheme of things, won’t do anything to change your life, and then suddenly BOOM! You have a new passion and all you want to do is do that thing.

That is what paddle board is for me! All I can think about is being up on that board, out on the ocean paddling around, hopping into some yoga poses, and doing some sit ups. Yes you read that right, you can do yoga… on a paddle board… in the middle of the ocean…. that to me, is heaven.

The point of me telling you this is because there is a very good chance that next year…. I am going to be able to do that all day, everyday. My family and I are creating a business plan to go town to _ (can’t tell you yet!) to start up a paddle board and boutique hotel business where people can come to reconnect with their body, mind, and spirit. Although, me and my mom would still have to travel back and forth when my acting career takes off. Perfectly fine with me! Doing both of the things that I love all the time, not a bad deal.

Even typing that makes me want to jump up and down. I know that this is what I am supposed to do with my life: act, teach, eat healthy, be on the beach, help others achieve their goals… ahhh creating heaven on earth my friends.

New Year New Schedule…. Oh My!

Oh my GOODness! I just made my year schedule and goals list and let me tell you…. I am going to be one busy busy bee! In the next year I am going to get my GED, attend online nutrition school, promote the PBS special I was a part of, create and launch an APP (for you all! I will keep you posted as it comes along), further my acting career A LOT, and work more with some of my mentors that are doing projects I am a part of.

Wow, writing it all out makes me feel exhausted! But, that is the way that I like my life to be, busy with all the things that I love doing.  Every project and deadline I have is of my own doing, on my own schedule, and in line with my own goals, which makes the whole process a lot less stressful.

As I was planning out my next year, I thought about ideas for my “new years resolution” when I came to the conclusion that I really didn’t want one. They really don’t do anything for me, meaning that they never really have any major impact on me, so instead of picking a new years resolution, I chose my new years WORD.

Yes a new years WORD! A word that will keep me motivated, excited, and focused on everything that I am doing. And the word is……….. ADVENTURE! Adventure in my life, in my relationships, in my plans, and on my schedule. I want this next year to be full of all new kinds of adventures!

I already feel a stronger to connection to that word than I ever have to any sort of new years resolution that I have made. Remember, change always comes from high emotional experiences or ties. I definitely feel some change and adventure coming because I am totally emotionally connected to that word.

Oh and one other fun fact for you: I am almost don with Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables, it is by far the best book I have ever read. I have a deadline to finish it by this weekend so that I can go and see the movie! Ah…. New Year New Schedule…. Oh My!
